RIP Samba. Breaking a Heart. Or Two.

Samba was my first dog. She was Radu’s first dog too. She was with us for the last five and a half years.. We were new at this and she taught us a lot.

About unconditional love. She was always with us, around us, although she really loved us when we fed her cheese.

About trust. She could sleep on us or next to us, all paws in the air, defenseless. She could do that because she trusted us totally.

About perseverance. When chasing a fly she could spend as much time as it took, hours if necessary.

About stubbornness. A true terrier, she would not give up. Period. Unless we made her.

About friendship. Her brown eyes and her little nudges made wrongs right.

About sharing. Every time she was about to finish her food and as much as she lived food, she left a little bit in her bowl and came to us to check, if we wanted it.

About being extroverted. She always wanted to meet other dogs. She was a dog’s dog, not do much a people dog. Best were boy dogs and with age she grew fond of girl dogs too. Thanks to her, we met some of our most precious friends.

About accepting life. Dogs take it as it is. You are nice to them, they will like you. Someone sucks, they stay away or growl. No BS. How refreshing.

About letting go. During her last days, hours and minutes, she leaned against me, as if to say that she is ready. When I felt her heart stopped against my hand, mine broke.

Love you Samba.
Bye, bye my friend.
